The Pásalo Project has been awarded funding from The National Lottery to create an anthology on the theme of multilingual voices on mental health. The anthology will include stories, poems, dialogues, letters and practice tips for mental health practitioners.

Around the Well is based within The Pásalo Project and the  Department of Film, Theatre & Television, University of Reading.  In 2018, Beverley Costa and  Teresa Murjas (Professor in Theatre & Performance) co-founded Around the Well, a performance group of interpreters, and other practitioners.

Around the Well performed Between - stories about migration, identity, languages, loss and transformation,  in partnership with European Commission Representation in the UK, Europe House, London on  March 15th, 2019. Find the chapter about it here:

Frequently findings from research into multilingualism, psychology and therapy become known amongst academics but it can be difficult to disseminate the ideas to the general public.  The Pásalo Project aims to convert those findings into creative ventures - plays, creative writing etc. in order for members of the public to have a chance to share in new ideas and knowledge.

Beverley Costa has already commissioned two plays, with support from Arts Council England, based on findings from research. She executive produced The Session at The Soho Theatre in 2015. She produced an initial anthology of Interpreters’ stories, called “In Other Words” in 2015 and in 2017, she produced a second international anthology called “In More Words”.
